Kindral Johan Laidoner
Teater on M. Kivastiku "SÕDUR", mängivad Ain Lutsepp ja Roman Baskin (mõlemad eesti tipp-näitlejad). Etendus räägib kindral Laidoneri viimastest päevadest.

| Tônu Naisoo kvartett 24. veeb. Vabariigi Aktusel |
Tõnu Naissoo jazz group has been called together to play the music of Uno Naissoo. The founder of Estonian folk-jazz, organizer of the first Estonian jazz festivals in 1950s and multi-instrumentalist who played in many jazz groups. As a composer Uno Naissoo wrote symphonic and chamber music, choral songs, jazz suites and popular music. In 21st century his music is performed by many artists of the new generation. As a jazz educator he wrote books about jazz harmony and founded the jazz-pop department at Tallinn Music School. This March Estonian jazz musicians will celebrate his 80th anniversary.
Uno Naissoo's jazz idols of the time originated from the U.S., which was, of course, natural. Primary among his influences were the adherents of West Coast jazz ? Gerry Mulligan, Jimmy Giuffre and Dave Brubeck as well as Miles Davis and Stan Kenton. Well-known were also his strong attachment to the standards and their interpreters, primarily the Hi-Lo`s and Ella Fitzgerald. Among pianists his favorites were Erroll Garner and Oscar Peterson. His creative ?cuisine? consisted of these influences plus his own uniquely Estonian (melody and harmony) additions.
Composer and jazz pianist-keyboardist Tõnu Naissoo (www.tonunaissoo.com), son of Uno Naissoo, started studying classical piano when he was six year old. He graduated Tallinn State Conservatory in composition. In 1989 he received a scholarship for Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA). His debut as a jazz pianist took place with his trio at the International Jazz Festival ?Tallinn 1967? when he was 16 year old. He has played with such internationally well-known jazz musicians and groups like Gebhard Ullman, Michel Marre, Yves Teicher, Jens Winther, Bob Moses, Dennis Rowland, Ted Curson, Vladimir Tarasov, Ulf Krokfors, Brian Melvin, UMO Big Band and the New York Voices to name a few. He was the piano soloist at the premiere of Alfred Schnittke`s 1st Symphony in USA (1988) by Boston Symphony Orchestra.
In his interpretation, Tõnu Naissoo combines several trends of jazz, while including also principles of classical music into his improvisations. He improvises equally well on electric instruments and piano. His style unites lyrical depth, existential gravity and relaxant entertainment.
Tõnu Naissoo has written music for his own groups, big bands, scores for numerous films (including feature films), theater and TV productions and also chamber and choir music.
Four of his latest trio CDs have been also released in Japan.
Meelis Vind is most valued clarinet and bass-clarinet player in Estonia. He studied clarinet in Conservatory of St.Petersburg and Tallinn. Busy with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra and with a contemporary music collective Nyyd-Ensemble, he still finds time for his own music and jazz projects. He is known as a player and a composer who is always looking for the new sounds and soundscapes.
Taavo Remmel is one of the most imposing double-bass players in Estonian jazz. His way of thinking and handling the instrument is unlimited and uniquely personal. His virtuosity is boundless within any type of music, starting from classical music up to jazz improvisations, while he is experimenting on the edges of potential and impossible borderlands of sound techniques. He is an associate professor at the Department of Jazz at Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.
Toomas Rull (www.toomasrull.com) is one of the most hired drummers in Estonia who is at home in jazz, rock and pop. Since 1995 he has a `B` level endorsement for Zildjian cymbals promoting the Zildjian name and its products. Toomas Rull`s first solo album "Rull's Royce - Rull's Choice" recieved a nomination for the Estonian Grammy awards in 2002. Presently he is working as a drumming instructor, as a studio musician and he is a member of several jazz and rock groups.
Anna Põldvee graduated the Department of Vocal Jazz at Tallinn Georg Ots Music School. She has performed at many concerts and jazz festivals in Estonia. Since 2006 she has a solo role in the Galt MacDermont`s musical production ?Hair? at the Arena Theater & Festspiel, Germany.
